Welcome to the Intensive English Program of Box Hill College Kuwait!

Our courses will help you develop your English language, study skills, critical thinking abilities so that you become high achievers in Box Hill diploma courses and beyond.

The Intensive English Program’s primary goal is to provide you with the tools, skills, knowledge, and experience needed to smoothly transition to your study fields and become successful learners and professionals. Our program aims to provide you quality teaching and support you in your learning. Our courses are tailored to your needs, built having in mind multiple intelligences, and that no two students are alike. We believe that anyone can grow with the right guidance and support. Our teaching helps scaffold your learning and achieve your academic and career goals. We use various instructional methods and technologies that are interactive and engaging. We play, watch videos, discuss the news, work on projects, organize events, visit places, and write reports to develop language and academic skills. Our program is very structured, but delivery methods and assessments are versatile. Project-based learning and task-based learning are a big part of our program. The highly qualified and experienced faculty comes from different parts of the world, with a wealth of expertise to share. They will team up with you and help you develop confidence in yourself and the skills you need on your path to success. Our number one focus is YOU, and we are here to support you and ensure that you have every opportunity possible to learn, grow, and be all you can.

Mission of the Program

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is committed in its mission to equip prospective Box Hill diploma candidates with skills they need to pursue their studies successfully and confidently in diploma. Our program helps you develop:

Adequate mastery of English language skills

Academic skills

Critical thinking skills

Achieve success in academic and professional life

and achieve success in academic and professional life. A range of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses exists for those from non-English-speaking backgrounds who need to improve their academic English and study skills to succeed in their chosen program of study and beyond.

Students admitted to Box Hill may qualify for direct entry into their selected program of study (mainstream) if TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or Box Hill Placement as well as Math Skills Test scores reveal sufficient aptitude. Alternatively, admitted students may be required to complete at least one of two available semesters of Intensive English Program courses depending on their Box Hill Admissions Test result.

Admissions Requirements

Year 12 graduate or equivalent

Minimum Box Hill Admissions Test score required for admittance to IEP Level 1 course ENG020

Box Hill  Admissions Test results and academic records help verify whether accepted students will need to complete at least one semester of Intensive English Program and, if so, into which level they should be placed.

Courses

The Intensive English Program offers two consecutive levels of interactive targeted training of English language, incorporating language, study skills, critical thinking and IT skills. These courses are sequential and cannot be studied simultaneously.
(Entry level IELTS <3.5-4  – Target level IELTS 4.5)

One semester of full-time study

This general and academic English course helps students strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while introducing them to business and design ideas, in preparation for their further education or employment.
(Entry level IELTS 4.5 – Target level IELTS 5.5)

One semester of full-time study

The goal of this course is to help intermediate level students expand and deepen listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills using business, design, and practical general concepts.
(Entry level IELTS 4.5 – Target level IELTS 5.5)

One semester of full-time study
